Confederation Line,
Ottawa Light Rail Transit
Public Art Manager,
Rideau Transit Group/OLRT Constructors
As part of a multi-billion dollar infrastructure project, Ottawa Light Rail Transit’s Confederation Line delivered 18 permanent public artworks across 12 stations. The scope of my role as Public Art Manager spanned the entire project, from artist selection and contract negotiation, through design development, construction documentation, fabrication and installation. Private Public Partnerships (P3) are an exercise in complex stakeholder relations and I served as the primary point-of-contact between artists, the Project Owner—the City of Ottawa, and the Project Consortium designing and building the project.

Recognizing the significance of such a high-profile public art program in the nation’s capital, I successfully lobbied to open the initial competition call to national artists which led to the notable selection of Geoff McFetridge and Douglas Coupland. I also had the privilege of supporting emerging artists as they pushed their craft and realized their first public art commissions.
