Clients Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment, Cadillac Fairview, and HR Lanterra desired a permanent art installation that utilized new technology to enhance their mixed-use development, Maple Leaf Square, situated at the epicenter of professional sports and entertainment in Toronto. I reached out to United Visual Artists to request their participation in the design competition. As it turned out, they won the commission, which became their first North American installation, their first permanent installation, and their largest one, yet. 


From design development through commissioning, I was heavily involved—reviewing designs, technology, materials, and costs—and bridged communication between artists, architects and engineers, general contractors and trades, and multiple project owners. I ran a prototype face-off for the selection of fabricator and negotiated artist and supply contracts.
